It is with profound sadness the Gabbidon, Frank, Brown, Cassell, Forka, Benson, and Pelham families mourn the loss of the matriarch of the family, Mrs. Sarah Frank Gabbidon. Affectionately called Ma Sarah by most who knew and loved her. This sad event occurred on Sunday December 2nd 2018 at the Scandinavian Nursing Home in Cranston Rhode Island, with her family by her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband Mr. Edwin J. Gabbidon, and two sons Roger Kumeh and Edwin J. Gabbidon Jr.
She leaves to mourn her children John T. Gabbidon (Josephine), Lauramae Gabbidon-George, Elietha Gabbidon, Mary Gabbidon Sowah (Ebenezer), Daniel Zwegger, Hannah Gabbidon Fluit (Charles), Marie Gabbidon, and many other children. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Johnita, Newellyn, Stanley, Velvida, Michael, Brandford, Johnathan (JT), Emmanuel, Arianna, Ashley, Sarah Cristina, Fatu, and four great grandchildren. Her sisters Tanneh Hammond, Rose Merchant. Her brother Bishop George Daniel Brown, and sisters Mary Forka, Julia Wariebi, the latter three all of whom predeceased her.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Wake Keeping on Friday, December 14th, 2018 from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM at Grace Episcopal Church, 300 Westminster Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02903. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grace Episcopal Church, 300 Westminster Street Providence, Rhode Island 02903. Interment will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, Rhode Island 02906. The Repast will held at the Church of the Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Ave, Cranston, R.I. 02920, following the interment.
